Hi I am Gyla González, I have been doing radio since 1993. I was born in Managua, Nicaragua, and moved to the USA in the late 80's. Georgia is my home! I am an alumni from the University of West Georgia where I studied Mass Communications. I love working with everyone and I am highly involved in the community. I was discovered by a friend, Rafael Cardona, and in 1992 started the first radio program in the area in Spanish; It was called La Voz Hispana which aired for 15 years. A dear friend of mine, Kevin Sanders continued to support my passion for radio and in 1997 started another radio program called Sounds of Pangea, and then in 2001 started Latin Beat, the first fully bilingual radio program at Georgia Public Broadcasting.
From 2006 to 2023 hosted and produced Latin Soul, the bilingual edition of a program broadcasted online at KPVU, "The Art of Soul" at A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
My dear friend Masani did the Latin Jazz edition!
